Learn more about who we are

Welcome to  Karval
New Day Community

CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

New Day Community is an open door to everyone.  We are all called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourself.  We worship Him in spirit and in truth, preach and teach salvation through Jesus Christ and him alone, and focus on living a holy and sanctified life through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.  We offer small groups for children, youth, and adults and invite you to come join us as we discover God together.

Building community through faith, love, and service.

To learn more about our small groups and where they meet, contact us at newdayinkarval@gmail.com or call the parsonage at (719) 446-5307.

Connect with others

Everybody’s schedule is different and what works for one does not always work for another, therefore we offer several opportunities outside of our regular worship time to come together, enjoy conversation with others, learn from God’s Word and share life together.  We invite you to check out our options and plan to come join us.

Sunday Worship

Our focus is to bring glory to God through our worship, engaging in song, prayer, the preaching and teaching of God’s truth through Scripture, and fellowship with one another.  Our Sunday morning services begin at 9:45 am.

Women’s Study

We meet Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am at the Nazarene parsonage.  Women of all ages are invited to join us for fellowship, prayer, study, and refreshments.

Our current study is on Esther and will continue through August 2.

Men’s Group

June 19 was a great success  for our new men’s group.  Plan now to join us on Mondays, July 17, and August 21 at 6:30 pm. We will meet on the lower level of the church.  This is a casual gathering for men of all ages, and dinner is provided.

WASPS

WASPS is our Wednesday After School Power Surge for students in grades K-8.  We meet from 4:00-6:00 pm on Wednesdays during the school months and offer snacks, games, Bible challenges, seasonal crafts, help with homework, and intergenerational connections.

Fellowship

We open our doors on the 4th Saturday morning of each month at 9:00 am for coffee, confections, and conversation. These are a great time of fellowship and a special time of catching up with our friends and neighbors.

We also have a potluck breakfast the 2nd Sunday of each month at 8:30 am, enjoying a meal and fellowship together before our worship service at 9:45 am.

Blog

Here is your chance to hear the heart of our pastor as she engages in God’s Word and what she is learning along the way.   The truth that came through God’s Word to the people years ago is still true for us today.  We simply need to be willing to hear it and receive it into our lives.  You can connect to the blog by clicking “blog” on the menu bar at the top of the home page  or on your phone, click the three bars on the top right corner, then choose “blog.”

Lead Pastor

Karval is home to our lead pastor, Rev. Enola Leonard.  She grew up on a ranch in the area and is a graduate of Karval High School.  She earned her Associates Degree in Business Administration at Blair College and served many years as an Administrative Assistant to the pastors in both the Church of the Nazarene and the Presbyterian Church (USA).  She volunteered in a variety of ministry areas in each church she served and answered the call to pastoral ministry in 2006.  She completed her B.A. in Christian Education with a minor in Bible and Theology at Nazarene Bible College, and continued her studies toward a masters degree through Fuller Seminary and Nazarene Theological Seminary.  She was ordained a Deacon in 2011 and Elder in 2019 by the Church of the Nazarene.  She began her ministry as Lead Pastor in Karval during the summer of 2017.

Events

Throughout the year we host special events that bring us out into the community.  Sign up for our newsletter to keep up with our activities.

Also, New Day Community is available for weddings, funerals, memorials, and other special events outside our normal worship services.  Our sanctuary will seat around 100, and our fellowship hall on the garden level will accomodate 50-60 guests.  All are handicap accessible.  Our pastor is here to serve as the officiator of your events.  You may contact her at the parsonage to schedule your event and learn more about what is required.  Outside ministers are welcome on a limited basis and must be a minister in good standing within the Church of the Nazarene.  Fees may or may not be required for use of the facilities, depending on the event.  This will be negotiated with our pastor at the time of scheduling.

Celebrating 90 Years!

We are celebrating our 90th Anniversary from May 2023 through May 2024!  This is a year of connecting with our community and offering opportunities for our community to connect with us outside of our regular services.

Our newsletter offers many details on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are going.  Check out this link to read the latest newsletter, and be sure to check out page 4 for all the events we have on our calendar!  All events are free and open to everyone.
